Team Captain's Meeting - November 18th, 2010

Here we go again....

The first Team Captain's meeting of the year!!!!

Important information:
1.  Theme this year is "Wrangling for a Cure."  We were told to think purple and cowboys.  I wonder if I can order a purple cowboy hat.
2.  The event days are July 9th and 10th, 2011.
3.  There is an early registration this year.  If you register by February 15th, 2011 you will be able to avoid the $10 registration fee.
4.  Last year we had 90 teams, 329 survivors, and we raised over $235,631.  WE WERE 14th IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR FUND RAISING DOLLARS!!!!  Way to go everyone!  That is amazing!  Since the start of Relay for Life in Santa Maria, we have raised over 2 MILLION dollars.  OH MY GOSH!!!!!!
5.  The goals for 2011 are...100 teams, 350 survivors (I guess I should make my husband sign up this year), 1234 walkers, 1300 luminarias, and raise $250,000.

Look at Them Apples

$5,791.30 - The team total as of July 11th, 2010. I think that we have to share some of our money with the other 2 Marian Teams, team Mission Hope and team WOW. It is all good. All the money ends up in the same place. I know for sure that $3700 was money that our team personally raised. We have to split the other $2000 three ways with the other teams. I will know more on July 29th. The wrap-up meeting is then.

A Special Thank You to Team Members

There was so much going on during the day that I didn't get pictures of every team member that showed up.  There was a steady stream of team members who came to walk the event.  Team members that I remember as walkers: Christina, Colleen, Terry, Stacey, BJ, Lesley, Marcy, Linda and myself. Thank You!

Also, there were lots of team members that disappeared into the snack booth that were never seen again.  Most worked the snack bar for hours and I am not sure how many worked or how many hours they worked.  Here are the team members I remember working the snack bar all hours of the day and night: Stacey, Terry, Eddie, Maggie, Pete, Linda, Terri, and Two Feathers.  There are probably more so let me know.  I know that there were at least 3 people in the snack bar the whole time.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.  You worked harder than all of us.

Quest Fitness was there doing a obstacle course.  They were also doing a raffle for our team.  The kids loved jumping through all the hoops and stuff.  Thank you Mario and Susan for your help.

Thanks to everyone who helped out.  I am sure that I am forgetting some people.   We had an awesome team of people.  Some team members helped out with fundraising but couldn't get to the event.  Some people came to walk and keep the relay going.  Some people helped with set-up and clean-up.  Whatever time and energy you gave to our team, I am truly thankful for everything.

Thank You,
Tara

Clean Up

The committee members have this event down to a science. They basically had the whole event cleaned up within an hour after the closing ceremony.
