Paint the Town Purple - May 1st

We are meeting at the Santa Maria City Hall for "Paint the Town Purple." The time has yet to be determined. There will be classic cars, American Cancer society information booths, Relay information, and lots and lots of purple. Check the ACS site for more information. (Click the link above...)

I am also planning a fundraiser at Cambria Winery. The wine maker has agreed to autograph bottles of wine for a donation to Relay for Life. I am working out the details now. Hopefully, I can go to both events and actually meet you all. It is strange being a virtual team captain.

Thanks, Tara

Message to the Wild Wild West Team Members

Hi Guys,

I realize that I am getting a lot of things wrong this year. This is my first time being a team captain and I feel really lost. The Relay Event is July 10th - 11th. You would think that there would be plenty of time for us to get organized and get our money raised. However, the new rule is: The only way you can be guaranteed an official Relay for Life t-shirt to wear on the day of the event is to sign up and raise $100 by May 8th. They always over order the t-shirts, but you won't be guaranteed one. They will be able to order t-shirts after the event, but where is the fun in that.

I thought I had loads of time to organize, but it turns out that I need to get on it and get all the team member packets out ASAP. Sorry. I will do my best to secure shirts for everyone, but I am passing along the information so you can get out your e-mails and fundraising stuff. The next Captains Meeting is April 29th. I will be able to make any cash deposits on that day to get you your 2010 Relay shirt.

Thanks, Tara

Fundraisers for other teams

Most of the last Captains meeting was all about what other fundraisers are going on. There is a lot of cool stuff going on. It is always nice to support other teams in their fundraising efforts.

Here is the link on the ACS site for all the fundraising activities.

Child Size Team Shirt

I decided to add a child size version of the team t-shirt. Why not? You can slap your logo on just about anything on the Cafe Press site. I figured that there might be a need for some smaller shirts.

The Final T-Shirt Design is Here!

Okay Kids. The T-shirt design is done and up on the Cafe Press site. The link will always be in the header. Click the link, choose your size, and buy one. Thanks for letting me make this so easy. This is the easiest way to get t-shirts to all the team members. Hopefully there will be no complaining about getting the wrong size. Remember - these t-shirts are sized for Men.

Last T-shirt Vote

Last Vote - Which guy on the horse do you like? I like the line drawing on the left, but the Lone Ranger wears a cowboy hat, not a sombrero. The guy on the right looks more like a cowboy, but not so cool. There were really no other choices for images so theses are the only 2 to pick from. Please weigh in.

Third T-Shirt Idea

Back of the shirt.

Front of the shirt. Small, like a sheriff badge.

What do you think of this design? I need to change the picture of the guy on the horse. I found another picture that I like better. I need to purchase the clip art so that there are no copyright issues, then I need to download the picture and convert it into a different format. That might take some time. This is the quick version. I was getting really hung up on thinking of a t-shirt design. I feel like I cannot go forward with anything else until this is done. I just want it to be simple, easy to read, and look like a Team Shirt. I think that this might be the winning design.

Second T-Shirt Idea

Another good idea for a team t-shirt. However, I decided that I didn't really want my face on the team shirt. It seemed a little strange. It is hard to come up with an idea that works in the theme of the '50s with the team name of Wild Wild West. This didn't seem very team orientated so I scrapped this idea too. You can see this original movie poster by clicking on the link below.

First T-Shirt Idea

This was a funny idea for the team t-shirt. We couldn't figure out what a cancer should look like so we used an old triop picture as a cancer stand in. It was a good first idea, but it ended up seeming a bit too complicated. Dave did a really good job making this movie poster look like the original.
